Dr Kristina Bamford

MBBS (Adel), FRACGP
Dr Kristina Bamford is a highly experienced General Practitioner having completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at Adelaide University in 1992. She has a vast knowledge across all aspects of general medicine and has a special interest in paediatrics, antenatal shared care, preventative medicine, women’s health, general family medicine, and travel medicine and immunisations.

Dr Farhana Akhter

MBBS, FRACGP
Dr Farhana Akhter has been working as a general practitioner since 2017. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Bangladesh in 2004, and in 2020 she completed her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Over the last 20 years Dr Akhter has worked in Rural Emergency and General Practice Healthcare, Aboriginal Health Services, and in various hospitals; including the Royal Darwin Hospital. In 2024 Dr Akhter also endeavoured, and completed, her Certificate of Practical Dermoscopy to enable her to enhance her skills in Dermatology. While enjoying all aspects of general practice, Dr Akhter has a special interest in dermatology, women’s health, paediatric medicine, and aged care and geriatric medicine. She can also speak Bengali and Hindi. Dr Akhter’s passion is to provide a personal and holistic approach to healthcare for all her patients.

Michelle

Nurse
Michelle was born and raised in South Africa, migrating to South Australia with her parents in 2008. She speaks Afrikaans and English. Michelle completed her Bachelor of Nursing in 2017 at UNISA. She enjoyed working in the hospital environments in renal dialysis, surgical wards and orthopaedics, during which she also worked in aged care, before starting her work as a general practice nurse. Michelle enjoys complex wound care, IV infusions, childhood immunisations and chronic disease management.

Leah Hooper

Practice Manager
Leah started her career as a veterinary nurse and worked her way up to a Practice Manager role in 2014. After having her daughter, Leah stepped away from her 18yr career in the veterinary industry and joined the team as Practice Manager at Tranmere Village Medical Centre in 2022. She holds a Bachelor degree in Business and HR Management which she completed in 2021. Leah enjoys all aspects of HR management and creating an environment where patients feel understood and listened to.

Michele Bernardi

Finance Manager
Michele has worked at Tranmere Village Medical Centre since 1999. She started as a medical receptionist and after many years of service she became the Practice Manager, a position she held until 2022. Michele made the decision to cut back a little and handed over the practice management reins to Leah, whilst still managing the finances for the practice.
